In addition, I amenthusiastic, cheerful, helpful, sunny and upward, so since high school, I havebeen rated as a "three good student" every year.

  However, these achievements can only represent my past. The dream is in myheart, the road is under my feet, and I stand at the crossroads of life. I chose__University, and I hope __University can open its arms and bring me a greatdevelopment. Platform, I hope that all the leaders and teachers can understandmy application. Thank you very much!

  Applied Program:Organizational Behavior

  I am interested in the field of study of Organizational Behavior. In thepast,I have had the experience of working in settings where the people and thecorporate cultures of the companies were all different. I have found that thereis a great difference in the both the behaviors of people and of theirorganizations,depending on whether they are state-owned enterprises (SOEs),large multinational firms,or small to medium sized foreign enterprises. Onesimple example is that of the ability of an employee to act independentlywithout direct instructions from his or her boss. In many Chinese organizations,acting without direct instructions is considered a form of disrespect towardsthe supervisor,who is generally offended by such behavior. In my experience andresearch,such organizations tend to have low operating efficiency with theemployees losing their innate ability to take the initiative.

  In contrast,foreign enterprises tend to welcome employees who have theability to make decisions on their own,though the extent to which this is truedepends on whether the supervisor is a local Chinese or an expatriate. Theseorganizat

  Dear xx,My interest in young children first began my niece was born while my sisterwas still living with us. On a daily basis I would help care for the baby and Igained a large sense of my responsibility over those four years. Due to this, Ihave had a growing aspiration to work with young children. I feel that the firstfew years of a baby’s life need numerous positive role models. I have chosen toapply for this course because I consider myself to be a very maternal person andI believe this work to be enormously rewarding. Therefore I am expecting topursue a career with young children, preferably those aged from birth to 5years.

  I undertook work experience for Liverpool City Council working in thePlanning and Building Control Department for a fortnight during March 20xx. Icarried out general administration including, filing, photocopying, faxing andanswering phone calls. I feel this has developed my organisational andcommunication skills. In addition to this, I enhanced my computer literacy byperforming data entry tasks, printing, using the intranet and typing s experience has helped me to work independently and to use my initiativewhen required.

  Throughout summer 20xx I worked as a volunteer at Sefton Resource Centrefor young people with disabilities. I worked with young children ranging fromages 3 to 8. I embarked on necessary training needed to care for the children inaccordance to their disability and age. During this experience my sense ofresponsibility increased. This was because I had to keep watch of at least twochildren who, because of their disability, had no real sense of danger. As wellas this, I feel that I now have a greater amount of empathy for the parentsbecause I had experienced only a few hours a week of their primaryresponsibility and their children’s need for dependency.教育学个人陈述#e#

  I was assigned one child each day in which I was expected to take fullresponsibility for, this would be during trips to places such as the swimmingbaths and even when on site. Although I found this to be difficult on someoccasions, I enjoyed it and I formed a strong bond with a fair few of thechildren.

  I am currently applying for voluntary work experience for multiple othernurseries within Liverpool, those including The Little Georgian Day Nursery inthe City Centre and put in another application for Sefton Resource ceI can remember, I have always had an understanding of those with cousin has moderate learning difficulties which has a large affect on hermental age; I frequently visit her and find that I enjoy being in her company asshe is a very optimistic person. Furthermore, one of my close friends previouslystarred in a documentary for BBC 3’s Beauty Season which was centred aroundsociety’s perceptions of beauty, as she has lived with Apert syndrome she hasexperienced many feelings of seclusion and situations of negativity, such asbullying. I found that these situations made her a stronger person and myfriends and I have helped her through her recovery from over 20 operations. Ihave high expectations and a large amount of respect for her and every otherperson who suffers from physical or mental disabilities. I was previously amember of Liverpool’s Team Oasis at Greenbank Sports Academy in which Iparticipated in performing arts activities, such as acting, dancing and m this I gained confidence and was able to improve my speaking skills, whichhas helped me speak in front of large audiences with ease. This has proven to beuseful when doing a school assembly for years seven and eight explaining theimportance of recycling and keeping the environment green.

  Yours sincerely,XX

  Due to the comprehensiveness of China’s “reform and open” policies, economicsplays an increasingly important role in the development of its global position.Though more and more companies built, management of companies cannot catch upwith the development of the companies. Management is a burgeoning field inChina, so I hope I can acquire more modern knowledge on management inEngland.

  The roots of my strong interest in business can be traced back to mychildhood. My father was among the first of China’s new breed of modernentrepreneurs. As a young girl, it was inspirational hearing about his businessventures, and meeting the varied and interesting circle of entrepreneurs. Mymother was also involved in business as an accountant, helping him with simplecalculations. And so it was early in my life that I hoped I, also, would somedaybe able to enter the realm of business.

  With the time of growing up, I preferred reading books to satisfy mycuriosity. I never ceased to contemplate over the questions I encountered.Subjects on business and management became a special fascination to me and myknowledge of psychology as well as interest in this field was increasingrapidly.

  As a high school student in China, I had to concentrate on the CollegeEntrance Examination (CEE), even so, books not related to the exams were neverexcluded from my life. Unfortunately when sitting in the exam in June, 20x, Iwas so nervous that I didn’t score well in the CEE exam. I enrolled in thedepartment of Computer Science in Zhejiang College of Traditional ChineseMedicine. Any attempt to persuade myself to focus on my major turned out to be afailure at the beginning of my college life. After several terms, I realizedthat I would never be interested in being a programmer or an engineer. At thatmoment, I lost my direction and objectives.

  My persistence in reading saved me from the dark situation. As a matter offact, I enjoyed reading the books included Encyclopedia American, and some booksabout management by Peter F.Drucker. I began to notice something interesting:Why some companies can produce more than others? Why some company can sell morethan others? Why some companies can build up but others cannot when facing thesame difficulties?

  With the questions in my mind, I started to read many relevant books. I waslucky to read the book “Jack: Straight from the Gut”by Jack Welch, in Which JohnA. Byrne makes a clear illustration that the management is important for acompany. When I was a junior, I ran a bookshop by myself near my school. Ishould manage not only the finance in the shop but also the employees in my shopeven made some strategies to enlarge the business in my shop to hold on the runthe shop. From this, my interpersonal skills and the capacity in business hasbeen greatly developed, definitely I was increasingly interested in what I wasdoing. By December, 20x, I had finally determined to take business managementas my career instead of IT. To accumulate more relevant knowledge, I strived togain more practical work experience in some big companies.

  Fortunately, as a senior, I began by conducting an internship in theArchitecture Company in Zhejiang Province. Over six months, I worked as anassistant of the manager to harmonize the relationship between the differentdepartments in this company and to draft some management system, which broadenedmy perspective of management conditions and business performance in differentindustries. The experience showed me that management is much more important thanthat of I thought in big companies. After graduation, I continued my work inthis company. In May, 20x, the company offered me an opportunity to participatein an training program held by a famous management school. Through in-depthdiscussions with teachers and students in the classes, they all encouraged me topursue my future career in management field because of my intellectual abilityand the brand new ideas I mentioned.

  During the short period of training, I realized that pursuing a higher degreein management is a wise choice for me now. Lancaster, with its excellence inmanagement, represents the perfect fit for my needs. In your challengingenvironment, I can build the required foundation of knowledge related tomanagement to achieve my goals. I am firmly convinced that your admission willbe my first step of success. With this in mind, I hereby submit my application,and await your favorable reply.

  The purpose of historical inquiry is not simply to present facts but to search for an interpretation of the past. The reason I want to study History is simply that it combines the excitement of exploration and discovery with the sense of reward born from successfully confronting and making sense of complex and challenging problems. History is fascinating because society is constantly evolving and as a result, the history must evolve with it. I seek enrolment in a program that not only maintains a superb reputation but that will also demand only the highest quality effort from each of its students. I hope that you are able to give me the privilege of continuing my studies on the level demanded by your prestigious institution. I have applied all my abilities and diligence to getting into Oxford. My aim has always been to excel in examinations, no matter how demanding they were. I made sure I achieved straight. As in all aspects of my studies.From my strong performance in my A level history exam to my past work experience, my background and qualifications have given me the skills to succeed in your program.Although school occupies most of my time, I have learnt the rewards of contributing towards school life and have been head student for two years. I take pleasure in debating issues that are important to me, and as part of my contribution I set up a school debating society. This position has improved my leadership, organisational and

  communication skills and, given me the chance to combine my theoretical knowledge and my interpersonal skills to successfully debate issues closely related to history. Outside of academics, I am a keen sportsman, competitively playing hockey and football. Last year I participated in the AA regional school athletics finals, achieving first position. My other passion is swimming, I have been a member of Warwickshire swimming club for nine years. One of my biggest achievements has been taking the County Champion title and crowned the record holder in the men’s 200m butterfly. My swimming practices have also given me the chance to complete my life guard qualification, enabling me to gain work as a lifeguard. My swimming ability also helps with my interest in scuba diving. Last summer I volunteered to assist with teaching scuba diving at a school in Italy. This experience was extremely valuable, improving my communication skills and the appreciation of different cultures and backgrounds. For years, I have maintained a firm devotion to history. All of my experiences, coupled with a strong academic background, will allow me to embrace studying history at Oxford University.

  Born in Beijing, China’s political capital, cultural center and economic hub, and nurtured in a well-cultured family and an empowering community, I have developed a meaningful outlook on lie. I identify myself with such values that one gives meaning to life when one lives to give. Success stories of my parents , relatives and friends along their career-path have entrenched my belief in being independent and confident as a contributing memeber of the community. As I look back on early days of my schooling , I am just as grateful to my working parents for having sent me to one of the best boarding schools in Beijing where I received quality primary education and learned to appreciate independence. As I recall , being independent was probably the biggest asset I gained as a teenager with the absence of parental guardianship for most of those 6 years. After I upgraded to secondary school, I offered to go to school by bike. Though hesitant at first, my parents gave their well-thought-out consent to the 15-km ride average Chinese parents would simply veto in the first place given the “one-child policy”and subsequent “little emperors” pampered by parents and grandparents. Thankfully, that day-to-day routine bike trip,rain or sunshine,tempered my strong character. I have been holding myself to highest standards, academically and physically from primary school days through to college life. I have grown up all these years amongst top cohorts and have been exposed to varied horizons and dimensions of school life in and outside of classroom. I am perfectly healthy and stong with a sharp mind and demonstrated commitment to teamwork. I was handpicked

  to play for school baseball team when I was in primary school. Back then, my proven leadership and excellent skills in the field assured my coach that I was born to be a team leader. And I did justice to his well-timed appointment by heading a team of Beijing to compete in Shanghai and Hong Kong several times. And the strong track record of out outstanding performances each time still fills me with pride and excitement today. During one match tour to Hong Kong in the 1990s, I was immediatel exposed to the enviable luxury and prosperity of the city,the dynamic economic center of Asia. That trip awakened me ,for the first time, to the value of wealth and finance. And it was that very journey to the thriving metropolis that shaped my ambition to be a financer. Years later,when the colleg entrance exam came,that moment of life and death for most of senior high school students in China,my top preference was Finance Colllege of Beijing Technology and Business Unversity. The result came as a sad surprise as I was admitted to Computer Science College instead. But I stuck with my dream major and decided to minor in finance. I have since worked hard to equip myself with systematic knowledge of finance. As a result , I amd now well on my way to graduation with double degrees in both computer science and finance in 20xx. During my college days,I led my cohorts in starting up a micro company as I dabbled into the real business world. We settled for newspaper as our maiden attempt.. As a new horn,I took a hands-on approach, from editing to circulating, from cost control to market survey. My strong leadership and sunergy of the entire team kept this mini organization going pretty well in its infancy. Yet inexperience in operation and cost management led to a failed business in the end. But I saw the silver lining in the failed venture. I now know more about where I need to work on. When I was a little boy, my parents taught me how to manage money in the safest way.

  They helped me put my pocket money in the bank and get interest as a return. Now, as a grown-up already,I recognize that systematic learning and book knowledge can truely help me know how much more about what finance is all about. Naturally, as one’s knowledge about swimming increases, the desire to swim in the sea grows. Yet, with more academic exposure, I have come to realize how I am ill-equipped with the knowledge needed to stay afloat in the trubulent sea of finance. That self-conscious humbleness versus the profundiy of finance as a much-respected discipline has led me to opt for further study in the US,home to a number of world-class colleges of finance. After meticulous comparision and cross-checking, I have settled for Clark University,the birthplace of the first-ever graduate school in the US. I trust that demanding academic standards here and ,best of all ,great mastermind of finance that Clark can offer will undoubtedly broaden my horizon and my vision as financier of the future. To me,Clark is the best and right place that can surely make the difference, academically and professionally alike. I am more than anxious to embrace those best minds in Clark and contribute my humble part to its huge wealth of knowledge and innovative ideas. I am therefore very much looking forward to a positive reply from Clark, my dream campus. May that offer come just in time for my journey towards a rewading learning experience in one of the greatest colleges in the US.

  Dear _,

  The more extensively one studies any subject, the more common ground onewill find it shares with all the others. This can be taken to its furthestextent when applied to literature - because there is nothing that is not, orcannot be, explored in literature. Of course, this is only half of the appeal ofreading and writing. For an example of the second, look to Nabokov - what does,for instance, Lolita, teach us? Only how the English language can be manipulatedinto something new and exhilarating, wonderfully poetic, wickedly ironic. I havea bad reading habit: I am too easily seduced by a fancy prose style.

  There is nothing a true bookworm loves more than rifling through abookshop, be it the charmingly musty atmosphere of a second-hand store, or theprint-fresh fragrance of Waterstones. American literature is my currentinfatuation: My favourite book right now is Catch-22, an insanely hilarious (yetoften extremely thought-provoking) satire set in the Second World War. I havealso recently discovered that contemporary of Joseph Heller, Kurt Vonnegut, andam absolutely taken with his novels. They are all strikingly original, all ofthem terribly sad and terribly funny. A-Level English Literature has helped meto become a better reader; I am able to dissect texts and see the underlyingmeanings that may be present, and analyse the choices the author has made inlanguage, form and structure. It has also taught me to improve my writing: it ismore flowing, my expression is clearer, I have been able to curb my tendency todigress (just a little). I love exploring the possibilities of language anddiscovering new writers and books to feed an old obsession. Last year, a friendand I set up and now run a small book club; we have recently found ourselves (tono complaint!) in an accidentally Russian rut. We have read Dostoevsky, we haveread Pasternak, we have read Turgenev, we have (appropriately, given howNabokovian this repetition sounds) read Nabokov. Last summer, I organised forthe book group to attend a reading of Chuck Palahniuk's - an author of whom I ama huge fan, perhaps best known for his novel Fight Club (later somewhat mutatedinto the cult film) whose excessively quotable, delightfully cynical socialcommentary is characterised by its repetetive patterns, unexpected metaphors,and sometimes disturbing themes. The reading was an incredible experience! Ilove concerts and have been attending the theatre since I was a child, but thereis still something about live performances that will always remain a wonderfulsurprise to me. That folkish storytelling tradition is such a necessary part ofliterature.

  Either symbiotic or parasitic is the relationship between this love and theother one; philosophy. Anyone who has devoted their time to thinking about whatwe could perhaps call the fundamental questions of philosophy - those concerningGod, and death, and that word so often thrown around (it sounds a little commonnow) 'purpose', good and evil, right and wrong - will agree it is a ratherconsuming preoccupation. When this is the case, us readers can always return tothat old escapists retreat of literature - but then, can it not be said thatsome of the best books ask more questions than they answer? Books are in fact toblame for my interest in philosophy, as they are for many other things: in thisinstance, it was a combination of a love of the Greek Classics and JosteinGaarder's Sophie's World, a summary of a good two thousand-odd years ofphilosophers and philosophies. In the years since, I have read a number of otherbooks on philosophy, most recently returning to my fascination with the ancientGreeks to read Plato's Republic; a mind-blowing excersise in the early days ofGreek philosophy. The techniques used and the questions asked are certainlystill very applicable today. My father is also something of a philosopher, andhe has developed my interest, teaching me about and debating with me on variouscomplex philosophical issues. In spite of, or more correctly because of myconstant (allow me a colloquialism) philosophizing, I have become a christian -if a bit of an unorthodox one. I regularly attend church, and for me the mainvalue of this is the educational one. Religion has also probably been the spurto the eleven hours of voluntary work I do at the British Red Cross bookshop(which has unexpectedly and brilliantly paid off since the manager asked me totake home any books i'd like!). This year my sixth form started a twilight A2 inReligious Education: Philosophy and Ethics, and a month into the course, Iabsolutely love it. It has given me the opportunity to broaden my knowledge inthe subject, suggested to me new reading material, and provided an arena forphilosophical debate.

  An element of philosophy that seems to have gone out of fashion is that ofpolitical and economic philosophy. Stubborn and questioning from the first, Itook my earliest political stance at three when I became aware of animalcruelty; although this is still an important issue for me, at the moment Iexcersize more concern over the state of our democracy. I am a member of a partyand various pressure groups - and we are advised, when writing the personalstatement, to avoid expressing a political bias either way! I shall try not to,but hope that you concur when I say that I believe in democracy, equality,freedom of speech, and as little government involvement in our lives as can bepossible without risking anybody's safety, freedom and prosperity. My concernover current affairs is, however, steeped in my interest in political theory. Asfar as that goes, my Sociology A-Level course is of great interest. Sociologycovers almost every aspect of our lives, and so informs political theory anddebate no end; learning about the various perspectives on how society workspushes you to further question our culture and the prevailing normals andvalues, and to identify not ontly the problems in society but the possiblesolutions.

  Now, then, for the 'outside interests' - for me, this is mainly in thearts. All too often I hear art galleries described as 'boring', but London'swide variety of galleries and exhibitions are regular haunts for me. As well asbeing a lover of fine art, I am very into illustration, and am a big fan of the'Graphic Novel' - or more basically, comics! My favourite art medium, eitherthis or sculpture - there is something that is much more real and intense insculpture than in two-dimensional art. Juan Munoz puts this across perhapsbetter than any other recent artist. I have been drawing and painting for a longtime, guided by my artist grandfather, and am taking a Photography A-Level. Ihave learned how to compose a good photograph, create an absorbing filmsequence, and develop my own photos - as far as I am concerned, the mostexciting part. Music and drama are also loves of mine - I was raised on BobDylan, establishing in me particularly an appreciation of lyrics, and I suspectthat I have been writing music myself practically as long as I have known how towrite! I can play very simple guitar, but someday would like to develop myabilities, as well as learn other instruments. The theatre is something else Iwas brought up with, but only in the past year or so have discovered thepossibilities of the musical - my favourite being the fairly recent Wicked.

  To conclude, very simply: the word 'philosophy' is derived from the greekfor 'love' and 'knowledge' - a philosopher, a lover of knowledge. This describesme perfectly. The depth of my interest is proof that I would be able to developmy own skills and contribute to the course that I choose. I hope I have managedto convey just how much I would value the opportunity to attend a universitywhere i could fully immerse myself in learning.

  Yours sincerely,

  你的背景;

  你的兴趣以及为什么产生了这样的兴趣;

  在1和2中要通过一定的'案例(如做项目/参加比赛等),侧面描述你的优势和能力;

  你的计划和目标;

  通过以上的描述,展现你对所申请项目的符合程度以及自己特别想要学这个专业或项目的决心;

  Dear xxx,

  The future of computing lies in the management of data. The term "data"refers not only to structured data, but in a broader sense to semi-structuredand unstructured data. In the past three decades, research in informationretrieval and data management has already transformed the world.

  Extracting value out of semi-structured and unstructured data, however,is

  still a problem at large and has huge potential in sculpturing a newcomputing landscape. There are two parts to this that I am equally passionateabout: finding new ways to extract value out of data and building efficientsystems that enable the former.

  My interest in building systems started in high school, when I co-founded abusiness offering bulletin board solutions to large-scale websites. I wasimmersed in exploiting techniques to improve system performance and thrilledthat our product outperformed competing solutions. Intrigued by learning moreabout the design and implementation of highly scalable systems, I joined a teamat IBM building a new shared-data distributed database product dubbed DB2pureScale. My work focuses on the efficient use of buffer pools and algorithmsto optimize them in a multi-tiered, distributed context. This experience ofbuilding large systems for real clients makes me contemplate about differencesbetween ideal academic settings and reality.

  Interested in further pursuing the field of data management, I enrolled ina full year thesis under Professor xxxxxx's supervision working on a framework fordata integration [1]. I implemented a new SQL-like language for specifyinglinkage between data silos. The framework translates user specified queries inLinQL into SQL, taking into account both syntactic and semantic meaning of data.This research experience has confirmed my understanding about status quo that alarge amount of value is buried in all kinds of data and we have yet to findgood ways to make use of overwhelming flow of data.

  Take emails as an example. Studies show that over 45% of business-criticalinformation resides in email messages . Collectively, emails reflect thebehaviors and intrinsic social patterns of the people involved. Nonetheless,withthe exception of spam filtering, information in emails is absorbed and consumedonly by the human that actually reads them.

  With this belief in mind, I spent a period of time researching emails aftermy graduation. I prototyped ideas to facilitate email searching and theexploration of email social networks. What I had realized is that no singlefield alone can fulfill the goal. This area is incredibly interdisciplinary.

  Yours sincerely,

  xxx
